Armenian minister says rising fuel imports from Azerbaijan to push domestic prices down

YEREVAN, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Armenia expects gasoline and diesel prices to decline following an increase in petroleum imports from Azerbaijan, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan was quoted by Armenpress as saying on Friday.

In a social media statement, Papoyan said that significant volumes of Azerbaijani petroleum products are currently being delivered to Armenia by rail, which is already influencing market expectations.

"A price reduction of up to 80 drams (0.21 U.S. dollar) per liter for gasoline and diesel is expected compared to last month's prices," Papoyan said, adding that fuel retailers in Armenia are also moving toward lower prices.
