BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

MALE -- The Maldives has recorded 1,204 new cases of COVID-19, raising the total number of cases to 37,019, local media citing the Health Protection Agency (HPA) reported here Tuesday.

Among the new cases, 961 were detected in the capital region of Greater Male and 235 in inhabited islands.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia confirmed 477 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, the lowest since April 3, making the tally at 45,936, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Tuesday.

The NCCD said that 7,560 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the country.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 22,992,517 on Tuesday after 329,942 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours, while active cases fell for the first time in a few weeks, said the federal health ministry.

Meanwhile, 3,876 COVID-19-related deaths took place since Monday morning, taking the total death toll to 249,992.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 511 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 128,283.

The daily caseload was up from 463 the previous day, but it stayed relatively low due to the effect of fewer virus tests. The daily average number of confirmed cases for the past week stood at 573.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil reported on Monday 889 more deaths from COVID-19, raising the national count to 423,229, the Ministry of Health said.

According to the ministry, Brazil now has a death rate of 201.4 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants.
