ULAN BATOR, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's foreign trade turnover reduced to 12.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, down 6.4 percent from the previous year, data released by the National Statistics Office showed Tuesday.
In 2020, Mongolia's exports fell by 0.6 percent to 7.6 billion dollars, while imports dropped by 13.6 percent to 5.3 billion dollars, the office said, noting that the country registered a foreign trade surplus of around 2.3 billion dollars.
The decrease in the foreign trade turnover is largely due to global restrictive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to experts of the statistical agency.
The Asian country traded with 146 economies across the world in 2020.
