Asian pipeline to carry gas to Europe

The Nabucco pipeline, which will carry Central Asian gas to western Europe via Turkey and the Balkans, will soon pipe gas into the European Union countries.

The pipe, which will bypass Russia, will run through Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria.

The pipeline is intended to supply a constant rate of gas to European customers, who have lost confidence in the Russian product after supply was cut last year.

An intergovernmental signing ceremony will take place on July 13 in Ankara, Turkey, to allow Nabucco gas to start flowing.
