Japanese PM talks with South Korean president
Kyrgyzstan News.Net Monday 12th January, 2009
Japanese and South Korean leaders have met to discuss cooperation in the global economic meltdown.
Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso arrived in Seoul on Sunday for talks with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.
On Sunday, Lee hosted dinner for Aso and said the two countries should boost cooperation to cope with the international financial meltdown.
South Korea and Japan are key trade partners with two-way trade reaching $82.6 billion in 2007.
Free trade talks between the two countries were stopped in late 2004 over disagreements on how much to lower trade barriers on agricultural goods.
The leaders are hoping an arrangement can be made to resume the talks.
