Australian airfares fall in tune with economy

The Australian government has revealed that domestic airfares in Australia have fallen to a 17-year low.

Australia’s Transport Bureau has presented statistics to show the cheapest fares are nearly 30 percent lower than a year ago.

The survey found that full economy airfares fell 21.6 percent compared with January last year.

Business class fares in January were less than 1 percent lower than in the previous year, while restricted economy fares fell by 2.6 percent.
